Meet the Founder

Benedetto Rebecca founded The Dorm Room Edit during his time at the University of Miami while studying architecture and design. What began as an experiment, designing his own dorm room and sharing the process online, quickly revealed a much larger conversation. As he experienced student spaces, he recognized a gap not only in how dorm rooms were furnished, but in how student housing itself was designed and perceived.

Rather than promoting luxury, The Dorm Room Edit was created to advocate for something more meaningful: the belief that a thoughtfully designed personal environment has the power to support well-being, creativity, belonging, and academic success. This philosophy ultimately became the foundation of Benedetto's architectural research, leading him to dedicate his undergraduate and graduate studies to reimagining the future of student housing through the lens of hospitality, environmental psychology, and human-centered design.

Today, The Dorm Room Edit serves as a curated destination where students can seamlessly discover and shop thoughtfully designed spaces while finding inspiration to create a room that feels uniquely their own. Looking ahead, the platform aims to become a leading resource for design inspiration, research, and conversation. Ultimately helping reshape the way we think about dorm rooms, one space at a time.
